What are some of your favorite musicals?
My all time favorite movie and musical is White Christmas, OMG I just want to be Vera Ellen.. she is just so perfect and poised! I’ve been looking into watching old musicals, I just watched Singin’ in the rain, and I’m now watching How to succeed in business without really trying. I also got On the town and The belle of new york from the library. Anyone else have a musical they enjoy?
I also recently watched breakfast at tiffany’s (not a musical) and it was okay.. (i got all distressed when she threw cat in the gutter) know any good old movies like that?
Rent, Chicago, Wicked, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story.
All fantastic and must-sees.

Cold Mountain $7.99 Director Anthony Minghella’s take on Charles Frazier’s bestselling novel is powered by wistful romanticism and a dramatic structure that’s been compared to Homer’s Odyssey. That latter creative tack parallels the Coens’ O Brother, Where Art Thou in crucial ways, and is further enhanced by another T-Bone Burnett-produced soundtrack of Appalachian-inflected folk traditionals, sympathetic originals b… |

White Christmas [VHS] $0.01 This semi-remake of Holiday Inn (the first movie in which Irving Berlin’s perennial, Oscar-winning holiday anthem was featured) doesn’t have much of a story, but what it does have is choice: Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, an all-Irving Berlin song score, classy direction by Hollywood vet Michael Curtiz (Casablanca, The Adventures of Robin Hood), VistaVision (the very first feature ever… |

Harvey $6.09 It’s always a small surprise to revisit this movie and realize what a subtly dark performance James Stewart gives as an alcoholic who claims he keeps company with a six-foot-tall, invisible rabbit. As Elwood P. Dowd, the actor emits a faint whiff of decay and spirits, yet Stewart also embraces Dowd’s romanticism and grace with splendid ease. Based on a hit play and directed by Henry Koster, the fi… |
