David Sanborn has released him most recent CD entitled Upfront.

It’s a rare day indeed that I get a CD from an artist that I can truthfully say does not have a bad track in the bunch. I’m more than happy to announce that’s exactly what I must say about this one. There simply is NOT a bad one in the bunch. No fillers here at all.

One of the refreshingly nice things about this CD is the way all of the participating artists seem to be really enjoying themselves. Combine that with the overall presentation and you’ve got one of David Sanborn’s most impressive releases ever.

If you’re even mildly into Jazz music you’ll enjoy this CD. Overall Upfront is an a great release. I give it my double thumbs up. You will not be disappointed with one single track.

While the entire CD is outstanding some of my favorites are track 3 – Crossfire, track 5 – Soul Serenade, and track 9 – Ramblin’

My Bonus Pick, and the one that got Sore [...as in "Stuck On REpeat"] is track 7 – Bang Bang. Good stuff!

Anybody play a Clarinet?

i’m doing a little Christmas shoppind and was wondering if anybody that has a clarinet, do you have a stand for your music. if you do, can you:

1.post a link to what it looks like(is there certain ones just for clarinet players)
2.how much did it cost you (i’m trying not to go over $30)
3.Where did you get it from
I live in Cali, and i never heard of that store, maybe cause i’m not into band and all that stuff. it’s for my sister.
@ Evan S: thanks for the info. just to let you know the first two links you posted don’t show a picture. but the last link to the website was great. i found a decent stand for $19.99 plus i chose faster shipping. thanks again.

Pretty much all music players use the same type of stand. Depending on your height and what instrument you play, you may use a different height setting, but pretty much all stands should be able to adjust.

Basically, there are 2 kinds of music stand. There are “wire” music stands such as this one (http://wwbw.com/PROLINE-Music-Stand-i765636.music). And there are “solid” music stands such as this one (http://wwbw.com/Musicians-Gear-Heavy-Duty-Folding-Music-Stand-i767048.music)

Wire music stands are generally cheaper, support less weight, have shorter lips (affects how much music you can have on the stand at a time). The advantage of these are they can fold up and be transported. These are an OK idea for a starting musician, but I find they are not durable enough. The one I owned had one of the legs mess up, and some of the bars on the head was bent. Since then, I have purchased a solid metal stand and I am more than pleased.

Solid stands are more durable, usually have better height, better legs, and are more durable, but cannot be transported easily. The one I purchased had a list price of 60$, but I got it for 30$ online. There are some cheaper ones also (like the link above). I can put all my music books and folder onto it, it goes high enough for me to read from it standing (im 5 11). I’d always have to look down with my old music stand.

It really depends on who your buying for. If you think they’d want a heavy duty, versatile stand, go with a solid stand. They CAN still be transported, it is just more of a pain. If you think they are going to be moving it around a lot or are just starting music, you may want to go with wire.

Take a few looks at the results on this website. These are almost the best prices you’ll find, and if you select a fast shipping method, you might be able to get them before christmas. If you enter SAVE15 at checkout under promotions you can get 15% off on most stands also from this website. You could also go to a music store, but they might not have great selection and it might cost you more.

Hope this helped and good luck.

The Big Book of Christmas Songs (Piano-Vocal-Guitar Series)

$10.66

This collection of 128 numbers is distinguished by an unusual slant toward classical music. Victor Herbert’s “Toyland,” a chorale by Martin Luther, and the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy” are among the instrumentals, and a Catalonian carol complements the “Carol of the Bells.” The print is larger than that in most collections, and the keys on the whole are easy (“O Holy Night” is in C). There is a…
