When living together are finances always hard or just at the beginning?

My boyfriend and I moved in together four months ago. Financially his regular account is maxxed out at the end of each month and mine is about 200 pounds in the red. We both have regular jobs and we have no treats, no going out, no movies, no shopping for anything other than food. Yet every one of the past four months something has come along and cleaned out any financial headway we may have made. He sold his watch (at a loss) and managed to halve his overdraft only for the bank to deduct a year’s worth of fees and put him right back to square one. It just seems to be nothing but bills and never making any headway is getting me so down. I can’t imagine any kind of Christmas, never mind another forty years like this, so does it ever get any better or is living together just a financial pit?

Well, my fiance and I moved in together a year ago, just over, and I have to admit, even though we both have had a pay rise since then, his more considerable than mine!, we have had more tough times than good times. We always sit down at the end of the month and re-work our budget, what we need to pay, what we can pay (in the way of the cerdit card if we have used it) and what we will have left. We do this every month and look at where we have gone wrong as this does help. It does get easier at times but there will always be the rough times. Every couple will have a certain time every year where money is really tight but you have to pull through it. If your bills are paid and the cupboards are full, then you can at least give a sigh of relief! Plus, the tv becomes your best buddy on a sat night! Just hang in there, I know it is tough but you will get through it. x
