childrens book from the 90′s maybe?? about a boy with a dinosaur?

I’m looking for this book for my son. It was about a little boy who found a little dinosaur in his room i think it was orange with yellow spots. it followed him everywhere, ate all his pancakes for breakfast and his mother kept telling him there are no such things as dinosaurs. The dinosaur gets bigger and bigger on every page until it’s wearing the house on its back and still the mother won’t admit its real. The dinosaur see’s a ice-cream van (i think??) and chases it down the street with the house on its back with the boy & his mother and father inside and finally the mother admits the dinosaur is real and the dinosaur shrinks back to a little dino.
I may be wrong but i think this is a British book, but i have searched high & low on the internet with no luck so if anyone can help me i’d be eternally grateful as my little 2 year old loves dinosaurs and would love this book for christmas.

but…you should check out ‘dinosaur bob’! it was one of my favorites when i was little…its super awesome, and i was a hugely dinosaur-obsessed kid too. really nice illustrations and a fun, cute story.
