When I first married my husband I asked my in-laws who are JW this same question.. I was told

“In the bible a wedding is celebrated… No birthday is celebrated, Christmas is a celebration of a Jesus’s (They used a different name) birth.”

What I concluded is, according to the JW’s take on christian mythology celebration of birthdays including that of jesus is taboo. While celebration of weddings is not taboo…
