What is with the ugly christmas sweater fad?

I’m confused. Why are we paying ridiculous amounts of money for ugly Christmas sweaters? I mean…they’re ugly…
Sounds good to me, lol. I guess I was just baffled by stores like Hollister that are selling them at really expensive prices. But hey, ’tis the season for warmth, right?

Because it’s all in the spirit and fun of Christmas! They may not be the most attractive sweaters, but they’re still traditional, classic, contain a whole lot of love, (the person does have you in mind when they get the sweater for you, don’t they?) and, hey… when else can you get away with wearing one of those?
A lot of people host “ugly Christmas sweater parties” every year… who knows why? But people have been doing it for a while now, and it’s just become something to bring a good laugh, and keep the Christmas spirit up during the holidays.
