But you have to remember to KISS. Keep it short and simple. This is to ensure that people do not lose their interest in what you have said. But you have to make it memorable enough that not even the teary-eyed father speech can blow yours completely out of people’s minds.

Draw inspiration from actual conversations. Surely you have heard your friend talk about his bride, take something that he said to you in confidence, something that is sweet like how he feels that he really can’t be without her, and tell that to her. It would make her feel conspiratorial and would capture her attention for any other secrets you might reveal. People would of course feel the same, their emotions streaming from their own revelations to friends about the people that they love. It is a common human experience. This way, whatever you say about the love your friends have, you are saying to them as well.

Wishing the couple the best in their marriage is the sole purpose of the best man toast so you shouldn’t say anything that you know can be damaging this early into the marriage. Like they say, if it would tarnish someone’s reputation, keep it to yourself. Most best men would want to say things that no longer relate to who their subject are, single people. So you have to take into consideration that they are still your old friend but he is changing a lot of who he is by getting married. And like a great wing man, you should send him off with words that would reassure him that he has made the right choice.
