If this guy truly likes you, and wants a relationship with you, it will happen. I think it best for you to possibly sit down with him and tell him how you feel and what’s on your mind. And if he is receptive to you, then so be it, you might have something good in the making. If not, then at least you’ll know where he stands.

Start your relationship being honest. And if it does not become a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship, then start an honest friendship. But the key word is “honest”.
