Fundie Teachers tell the Parents I am Gay. They want to “Think of the Children!” Is that fair?
Teachers have Christmas Parties and whatnot. I once showed up at a Xmas party with my boyfriend. This is Los Angeles. I thought the other teachers could deal with it.
Now every year about 3 or 4 kids get pulled from my class by their parents. Why? The Fundie Teachers warn their Fundie Parent Friends so my Gayness won’t rub off on their kids. Well, guess what? Their kids get me anyway, because we team teach, and I teach math for all the fifth grade classes.
I teach fifth grade. And when parents ask me why their kid doesn’t do so well in math, I often say “Well, Mrs. Smith (not her real name) is not a very good teacher of math. Most of the children in her class drop their scores in math after being with her for a year (which is true—test scores don’t lie). ” That got back to Mrs. Smith. She came at me all angry. I told her if she could rat me out for being Gay, I could rat her out for being a lousy math teacher. Is that fair?
You did the right thing, she’s a b!+@h, and fundies think that gay=pedophile.
