Just remember to go with the theme too – don’t open the door in a Halloween sailor costume or Harry Potter costume unless that’s the theme of your event.

I want a charity activity to do at a Christmas party like Operation Christmas Child?
I’m throwing a Christmas dinner party, and I want to incorporate a charity or service project in some way. I don’t want to ask attendees to just bring money, but I want to get them involved in some way that is cheap. I thought about asking each attendee to bring items for a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child and put the boxes together at the party. The group has done this many times. Are there any other types of things we could do at the party where supplies are cheap? I thought about fleece baby blankets, but the material can get pricey. I’m not looking for something to do before or after, and we can’t go caroling.
Have a cookie baking party, then take the cookies somewhere like the Salvation Army or a children’s home (call places beforehand, so you’ll know who will accept them). Some people can bake them and the others can decorate them.
