The term literacy means knowing how to read and write. There are two types of literacy – visual and media literacy.
Visual literacy
Children are surrounded with visual images in the form of pictures in story books, shopping catalogs, new toys in magazines as they are living in an information environment saturated with visual images.
Media literacy
Children are exposed to more and more media literacy such as television, videos, movies, video and computer games and whether such are contributing to brain development leaves much to debate.
Preschool letter games are one type of visual literacy. When picture books are read and seen by children, they do not think only in written language but in visual images as well as it is the pictures they see along with the words they hear that help them develop a sense of story and thus the pictures are the story and they give meaning to words.
Listed are several creative, fun and affordable preschool letter games -
1. Treasure Hunt
While in the house or garden, challenge your child to find 3 objects starting with a letter within 5 minutes. Expand their knowledge by asking what they are used for and develop their imagination and creativity by asking what other uses they can think of for the objects. If the child found a handkerchief, other than keeping you clean and dry, what other uses can you think of for a handkerchief?
2. Scrap book of alphabets
Children treasure crafts which they have created for themselves. You can create a scrap book and call it My Scrap Book of Alphabets. Ask the child to find pictures which start with letters from A to Z from old magazines or newspapers. Paste them on a big cardboard or on colored papers and bind them up into a book.
3. Letter count.
You can create several preschool letter games while reading their favorite story book. Ask them to find words which start with a certain letter. Cover a letter from any words and ask them which letter is missing.
4. Pebbles craft.
Collect pebbles from the park or garden and ask children to form letters using the pebbles. You can replace pebbles with seeds or grains.
5. Letter blindfold.
Write letters from A to Z on a piece of paper. Blindfold the child and ask them to point at the paper. Untie the blindfold and ask them what letter they have pointed. Expand their vocabulary by asking them to name an object starting with that letter. You can vary this game by asking the child to write the letters A to Z while blindfolded. These preschool letter games are very entertaining but at the same time can widen their vocabulary and develop writing skills.
6. Fishing for letters
Write letters on pieces of paper and clip with paper clip. Tie a string with a magnet at the end. When you call out a letter, the child has to find and fish the paper out. You can vary this game by cutting out animals and ask child to fish for animals which start with a letter.
There are many activities on the market which are designed to keep the children busy and happy but the above activities do more than that as they are more of building their literacy skills and maximize the time you spend with your children by playing games that develop meaningful growth. Playing appropriate fun preschool letter games stimulate a child’s brain and nurtures their interest and arouse their curiosity to want to learn more.

Met a girl and I need dating tips!?
I met this girl that is 17 at my nephews party. I’m 17 to. We had a conversation about our ACT GPA and some schools we have been accepted. She got accepted to Loyola and I have a De Paul and Concordia University Chicago acceptance letter. She is in someway related to my brother in-law. I really like her and we were dancing all night but I forgot to ask her for her number. I can ask my brother in-law for it or I can have him invite her the next time we go to the movies. Should I ask him for her number, add her on Facebook, wait till the Christmas Party, or have him invite her out to the movies with me there. How do I ask her out on a date? If she says yes, where should I take her? Do I hold her hand, kiss her at the end or what?
Wait for it bro! Just make sure she’s going…then look sharp and handsome/smell good, be across the room when you see her, look at her lock eyes and smile. Then make a gesture to signal for her to meet you somewhere or come over (you’re in control), then chat/flirt. Fucking EPIC bro!! I’m jealous lol. I got the babes though so not really lol.
Another great place to shop for Christmas Party Letter For School products is Amazon. They have more than just books!
