Should I attend the family Christmas party?

I had a major falling out with me in-laws over the holidays (thanksgiving thru Christmas Eve) and I was able to patch things up with the ones I had said hurtful things to and about. Their extended family found out the things I said and made me feel 1/4 of and inch tall, even though I had already resolved it. I sent them an email asking them for forgiveness and that I would not go to their Christmas party if I wasn’t welcome.
They haven’t emailed back and the party is on Saturday. I am not sure what to do. My husband and our three children are going, but I think I should stay behind because they haven’t said I was welcome in their home or not. My husband says I should go, but I think they would go out of their way to make me feel guilty and unwelcome. Any suggestions?
