I have been dating my boyfriend for 6 months and he is generally a very sweet and nice guy. For Christmas he took me to see a Broadway show in NYC. He is very well liked and a very kind, sensitive, and honest person. (In the beginning I had a hard time trusting him) But now I see that he is in fact a very honest person.
So my main concern is that today I called him and we kinda were supposed to go out. I suggested that he call his roommate and we all go out. So, I asked him to pick me up from my house and he was going to. So a few hours later he calls me and says that he is going to go to a bar with his roommate and that I can’t go because I am not 21 yet! I felt hurt after because he kinda ditched me, and I got dressed and everything!!!! I am not against him hanging with the guys but this hurt me. Plus he was doing some drinking with his dad the day before for the New Year’s!
What do you guys think?
A guy needs his space. Obiviously he cares for you and treats you well. So it is just fair for you to give him some guy time and let him hangout with his friends and family.
Hanging out with Dad, and hanging out with my roommate is totally different. Just because he spent time with his Dad doesn’t mean he should ditch his friend for you.
Don’t become clingy and bossy, guys don’t like that, and will start distancing themselves from you. Especially guys who are older than you. Be understanding and give him his space.
He may have cancelled his plans that day with you, but remember he did take you to see a nice Broadway show.
He is trying to give everyone in his life ample time, his family, friends, and you. He can’t just ditch his father and friends because you are in his life now. He has probably known them a lot longer than he has known you.
