Saxophone tips for a beginner?

I got a tenor saxophone for Christmas, and I need any help I can get! I’ve been a flute player for over four years, so I already have the lung power and lip muscles needed, and I can also read music. I know the basic embouchure and where to put my fingers and I found a fingering chart online, but besides that I don’t know too much. I’m not planning on playing this in a band or anything, just on my own, but I could really use some tips. Anything’ll help! Thanks =)

I’ve played the saxophone for 4 years now, and the best thing I can tell you is practice your scales. It will help you get more familiar with the sax, which is important. There’s nothing like being uncomfortable with the instrument.
As for your tone on the instrument, listening to others play would defiantly help you out. It will give you an idea of what the tone is supposed to sound like. You can adjust your embouchure so that you can match a specific tone that you’ve heard. Hope this helps!
