Any sheet music guitar players out there?!?! Please help…?

okay so for Christmas i got Leeland Sound of Melodies songbook…full of guitar charts and sheet music for guitars, pianos ex….i understand how to read music but on the guitar…the chords that they give you are so challenging and confusing…they dont even sound right…obviously they are corect becasue they came from the publishers but what do i do? if im just playing guitar by myself and trying to play these acousticly solo it doesnt sound right…am i doing something wrong? what do i need to do?

If they sound wrong, chances are the songs might have different tunings. Standard tuning is EADGBE (thickest/lowest-pitch string to thinnest/highest-pitch string).

Speaking of tuning, is your guitar actually in tune?

On another note, are you playing the chords upside-down?

Are you playing strings that you’re not supposed to? A lot of guitar chords require you to omit certain strings when you strum, and I’ve made this mistake many times during learning (and AFAIK I still don’t have the technique right)

If you’re not quite up to that level yet, I suggest you make a (small) investment in a ukulele; they’re quite good for learning and unlike the recorder they don’t sound like crap =D
