Teach myself piano………?

Well, money is tight in my family, so I don’t think my parents could afford piano lessons. I have been playing trumpet for 4 1/2 years now and I was in choir for a year. I take private lessons for trumpet, but my parents really can’t afford any more than that. I know all the notes on the piano and I can teach myself songs by watching youtube videos (i know that’s nothin special lol). I have a thorough understanding of scale formulas, etc. So I can use scale formulas to play scales on the piano. I know my technique and hand position wouldn’t be the best…..and I don’t read bass clef…..I know what the lines are G, B, D, F, A….but I can’t fluently read it…..So i was wondering if I could teach myself piano and if so, do you have any suggestions? I only have one book of piano music that has christmas songs in it, so I could use that to practice note reading and making the connection of which finger hits which note. Anyway, thanks for your help

I think its good that you are interested in teaching your self piano. Its hard work, but the end results are promising. Learning piano can really help you understand the patterns of music much better than anyother instrument. I know a website with tons of classical music, Ill put in a link at the end. but I do think it is possible to learn piano on your own. I done it and i can now somewhat sightread sufficiently. in this website their are plenty of children’s piano books, by Schumann and Tchaikovsky to name a few, and plenty of bach you can learn from. You can definitely up your sight reading skills. Most of the music has fingerings, so its pretty easy to learn. Here is the link.
