A question for the Mariah Carey fans out there…?
Ok, I’ll admit I’m not her biggest fan. But my “spare” daughter is, and I’d like to buy her some Mariah discs for Christmas (she had the complete collection, but her ex husband refused to return them when they broke up). So my question – knowing nothing about Mariah and her music – is this:- is there a “definitive”, “must have” Mariah album? Like Sergeant Peppers was to the Beatles? I have also seen a few concert DVDs for sale, and I was wondering which of these would be the best one to buy? (I am assuming, of course, that Mariah is like all other artists, and has released some records that weren’t QUITE as good as some others?) Although her diehard fans may not agree with this statement (they love all her music), I need to know what the best ones to buy would be, and which to avoid. Thanks!!
If you like the sweet soul girl-next-door Mariah like in her early career, you should buy Music Box and Daydream. Her debut album Mariah Carey was also good, although for some people it sounded a bit too Whitney-ish.
If you prefer the sexy siren Mariah and her current R&B/hip-hop stuff, you might wanna buy Butterfly and The Emancipation of Mimi.
If you’re looking for a Christmas spirit (since you wanna give a Christmas present), you definitely need to get Mariah’s Merry Christmas album.
But if you want ALL Mariah’s biggest hits in one album, then you should get her greatest hits album and/or #1′s.
