Should I start dancing and how?

I’m 11 years old, am very mature and i’m a very quick learner. I have no dance experience at all! Well my family is Colombian so we dance some salsa at Christmas and stuff. I’m not flexible AT ALL but I know it just takes practice to fix that. After watching numerous videos of people dancing I feel it’s something I really want but I have no idea how to get started. I’m thinking about jogging and eating less (i luv food!) so that I can have a better body for it but I also need classes. Anyone know where to find classes (latin music)?? Also what are some good exercises to be more flexible? This is random but I know I want it thanks

OF COURSE! Do it. Start looking for a local studio that you can start classes. Just be sure they know your ability level so its too hard and unenjoyable, but enough to challenge you. You will defiantly want to be in great shape to be a dancer so exercising and being careful about what you eat will be very very helpful. As far as flexibility goes, work on normal stretches first (like touching your toes, or straddle) and make sure you hold these stretches for a good 30 seconds to 1 minute as many times you can in a day. It is best to work on your flexibility when you are at peak workout (when your sweaty and breathless! bleck! i know!) Oh! and make sure you breathe when stretching to get oxygen to your muscles. Your muscles are like rubber bands and you need to continuously stretch them to become flexible. So try to every day! Work yourself. That’s important. But be careful not to push it too much. Another thing that always helps me, is to watch youtube videos. Sounds kindaaa weird I know, but watch professional dancers technique! You could be surprised on how much you can pick up!
