i want to get myself a guitar for christmas but im not sure if i should get an accoustic or electric or both. please help me and maybe even tell me what kind of music books to buy to learn more songs. i know guitar basics like chords and stuff but nothing fancy. help plzzzzz!!

^Answer above me is bollocks. It all depends what music you want to play. I’ve been playing guitar for many years now and i started out with an electric guitar. I now have 4 acoustics that i can play equally as good as my electrics. Only difference is neck is wider/more cumbersome and harder to bend on. If you do start out on an electric guitar i’d learn most things like chords, scales, easy songs etc on the clean channel of the amp. Acoustics are good to invest in once you’ve started playing well and will increase your hand strength but are’nt essential.
