Why does it take so long to get popular movies on Netflix?

I noticed after the Christmas Holiday it has been taking really long to rent popular movies on Netflix. I called and complained to Netflix about this because I have been waiting about 3 weeks now for Public Enemies and Paranormal Activities. I understand that these movies are very popular but 3 week is very long. Netflix should have stocked up on movies to prepare for the Holiday surge of customers. When I talk with Netflix about this problem all they keep saying is “we don’t advertise ourselves as a new release rental company.” I think that business philosophy is crap.

I understand your frustration. I’ve been waiting for Four Christmases and My Sister’s Keeper since their release on DVD. I read somewhere that newer customers are given the newer releases before customers that have been members for awhile. I can’t remember where I read it or if it is true or not so don’t take that to the bank. It sucks but I guess we have to suck it up or find alternate means.
