Depressed when seeing religious themed items?

I was raised Catholic but I’m now a spiritualist, or open-minded (I became so over the years of expanding my horizons). But still, especially around Christmas time, if I see movies such as The Nativity Story (I did last year and LOVED it) or religious themed items, especially of Mother Mary (who I still pray to), Jesus, and Angels, I feel like crying for some reason.

It’s not guilt, but I feel so overwhelmed I feel like crying when I look at them. Why?

You are not feeling guilt. You are feeling emotional because of the time of the year. I do not belong to any religious organization but I love Christmas. I love Christmas movies, especially the story of Jesus, because whether we are a member of a congregation or we prefer to choose our own way to live Spiritually, the basis of the Christian Religion is Jesus being born. I take the basis, a baby was born, Jesus.
He came to teach us how to live our lives to become more like him. THAT is why you feel weepy, Jesus was a wonderful gift to this earth, just as Buddha was and many others. If we live by their basic teachings we will live a Spiritual life. Have you ever heard the saying (which I believe) We are not human beings having a Spiritual Experience, we are Spiritual Beings having a human experience,

Christmas is Jesus, Jesus was our mentor, Movies about Jesus being born should be seen with emotion and thanks, which is what I think you are feeling.

It is my best time of the year. The colors, the music, the extra love, that is what it is all about.

It is wonderful to know that we are watched over by Angels, and this baby grew up to teach such words of wisdom.

You should feel good about being overwhelmed, it is, in its own way and pray of thanks to “God” for sending such a message to us.

Merry Christmas and Peace and love,
