Here is a Christmas riddle for you: Which one comes first, Christmas or New Year’s day?

I’m sure most people will say, Christmas but that is not true because New Year comes first. New Year’s Day is usually the very first day of every year whereas Christmas Day doesn’t come until eleven months and twenty-four days later. Around three hundred and fifty-five days later to precise. Now, that’s a nice party riddle there.

Christmas preparations in the UK usually starts after Halloween, which comes up at the end of October. That’s when shops roll out their Christmas promotions and decorations start going up. Christmas is somehow synonymous with winter so when the temperature starts to drop it begins to look more like Christmas.

The Christian Advent calendar starts on December 1st of every year. For children that is when the excitement of Christmas starts because they receive that chocolate box with little windows for each day of the month in December until 24th December.

Christmas Eve: There’s always something magical about Christmas-eve that I cannot exactly put my finger on. If you’re not in church on Christmas-eve then it should be spent with a loved one or loved ones by the fire place with Christmas songs playing softly in the background. My favourite Christmas song for Christmas-eve is Nat King Cole’s Christmas Song (Chestnut Roasting on an Open Fire). On the other hand, if you have young children that’s the time to read them Christmas stories.

Christmas Day: The big day! You struggle to get out of bed on every other day of the year but not on Christmas Day because there are presents to be opened and a lot of cooking to done. There’s usually a lot excitement in the air throughout the day.

The guests start arriving for dinner around noon and by three O’clock all the guests should have arrived along with night-time! No wonder it’s called Christmas Dinner and not Christmas Lunch because by the time you start eating it’s already dark.

Probably because it’s Christmas, the day goes by very quickly and before long it’s bed-time and Dinner guests would have to leave.

Boxing Day: December 26th or day after Christmas. In other parts of the world where the weather is a lot milder, this day is usually marked with outdoor activities. Over here in the UK the Christmas spirit simply continues and for those who want to go out the trains would have resumed running after the break on Christmas day.

It’s phenomenal that these three days have such a significant importance among the remaining three hundred and sixty-two that make up the rest of the year.

Animators of all things Christmas, Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass (Frosty the Snowman) take on the famous poem by Clement Moore. Narrated by Joel Grey, the story opens on the night before Christmas, but the reading of the poem must be stopped when two creatures in the house begin to stir: family men Mr. Trundle and Father Mouse. Their restlessness stems from the fact that Santa is angry at the r…

Frosty’s Winter Wonderland It’s no secret that sequels to classic TV specials rarely stack up–they’re usually guilty of getting too fancy with characters and story lines, causing irritating fissures to form in our perceptions of the originals.
