Christmas Movie Comfort And Joy

Daddy disappeared last year
That dreadful Christmas eve!
Me and Mummy shed a tear,
we could not quite believe
that he would leave us all alone.
No presents for the tree.
Not even for the dog, a bone.
This house of misery.
The days went by and no word came
No comfort and no joy.
The schoolyard tales of woeful fame,
I was a sorry boy.
But come the spring the sun came back,
new life sprung from the ground.
And from the parlour’s chimney stack
there came a scratching sound
of mice and rats, in harvest mode.
Collecting for the nests.
Till on the hearth there fell a load
of fibres from one, of Daddy’s vests.
For Daddy hadn’t left at all,
but in the Chimney,had got stuck.
He decomposed behind the wall,
But at last, I got my fire-truck…
As bits of him rotted and dropped on the grate,
My Mummy said, “Told you, you need to lose weight!”
