The moose belongs to the calm family of deer. It is primarily found in the forests of northern hemisphere. Its distinguishing feature is its twig like antlers.
i. The Skull: Draw an elongated oval with a narrow front, slightly tilting down. Draw two parallel lines from the narrow end towards the other one so that it looks like an open jaw. Draw an even series of teeth between the gaps with long front teeth. Moose has a longer jaw line, like deer and stag. Make a hollow spot on the top of the oval to make it look like eye sockets. A moose has twig like antlers. On the either side of the head, draw a two big flat bone like structure with tentacles, resembling the antlers.
ii. The Spinal Column: The spinal column can be divided into cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum, and caudal vertebrae.
a. The Cervical Vertebrae: Draw a slightly curved line below the oval. Follow it with small square bones joined to each other with a small gap between them along the line.
b. Thoracic, Lumbar, Sacrum, and Caudal Vertebrae: From the base of the neck bone, draw a horizontal line with a slightly downwards bent end. The first half of the line is the thoracic vertebrae. The rest half can be divided into three parts. Draw spiked bone like structure on the line until the lumbar vertebrae. Draw small circular bones on the sacrum. The caudal vertebra is a small thin tailbone.
iii. The Rib Cage: Below the thoracic vertebrae, draw a set of 12 ribs in cage like structure to resemble the rib cage.
iv. The Forelegs: From the base of the neck bone, along the front of the rib cage, draw a triangular bone (scapula) with the narrow end facing down. Draw a slanting bone like structure (humerus) joined to the scapula. Below the humerus, draw a straight thin bone with round edges. This is the radius. Below the radius, sketch another thin bone (canon) of the same size. Then draw a slanting piece of bone with a flat base. This is the feet of the animal. Repeat the entire structure of leg to draw the second foreleg.
v. The Hind Legs: From the place where the lumbar vertebrae end, draw a triangular bone with the narrow end facing down. This is the pelvic girdle. From the pelvis, draw a thin bone with big rounded ends. This is the femur. From the femur, sketch another thin long bone (Tibia). From the tibia, draw a vertical thin bone with its end protruding slightly from the place where it joins the tibia. This is the Metatarsus. Below it, draw a small slanting piece of bone with a flat base. Repeat the whole leg structure again ahead of the hind leg.
