i am doing a essay on a christmas. on my targets my teacher said:
1. analyse how dicken’s uses irony and sarcasm to mock the ways of the rich, including scrooge and the mayor.
2. list of words
3. structure of novel and how it helps his message.
i can’t find any quotes to back any of these points up and i don’t understand what i am supposed to do properly. the points are too vague. can anyone explain each point and give me points to back them up. i would be very grateful if you did. thanks.
well irony – generally all the rich are miserable and the poor happy – apart from being poor.

Structure emphasises it by going to his past when he was happy and showing how he bacame more and more miserable as the same time as beoming rch (although not BECAUSE he was rich, more to do withhis attitude to money – money doesn’t buy him happiness or even anything as he never spent it, just accumulated it).
