How do I make a scrapbook for a project?

We have to do a memory book project and I don’t want to put it in a binder, so I was thinking of making a book out of cardboard, sort of like a scrapbook. How would I make one of these? And I just got a whole bunch of watercolor supplies for Christmas, not that I’m an amazing artist or anything, but I was thinking of painting the cover. What should I paint? Thanks!

I’m into rubber stamping and scrapbooking.

As for the cover…if you like the beach you could paint a beach scene – sand, water, sky, perhaps a boat on the water
A landscape with a mountain in the background, a stream or river, a cabin in a clearing, and some trees
A design of your own making – swirls, stripes, whatever shapes appeal to you
Swirls of colors
Paint the edge and place a title in the middle printed from your computer or hand written
