In terms of outdoor BBQ party games, this one is fantastic if you have guests who don’t know (or at least a lot about) each other. Prior to the party, create a list of categories that people may fall into, giving one copy to each guest. Examples include “someone who shares the same shoe size as you”, “someone who speaks a foreign language”, or “someone who is a baseball enthusiast”. Guests must mingle and talk with each other until they are able to find someone who meets each of the categories on the sheet.

“Water Balloon Volleyball” BBQ Party Game

If it’s the middle of summer and there are going to be children at your BBQ party, games like this are fantastic to beat the heat. Prior to the party fill up LOTS of water balloons gather a collection of old towels and set up a “net” (or even a section of lawn with a piece of rope across the middle) in the backyard. Children split into two even teams and pair up with someone else in their team. Give each pair a towel. This BBQ party game begins with a pair from one team placing a water-balloon in their towel, and using it to toss the balloon over the line. The throwing and catching continues until one team misses, giving the other team 1 point. The first team to 10 points wins.

Night time party photos with a Nikon D40, advice?

If I have the ISO set to 800, will this make the photos grainy? Would I be better off leaving the ISO at 400?
The photos are for a sweet sixteen masquerade party this Friday, it will be in a small church with small christmas light type lighting. I made a DIY flash diffuser because I really don’t want my photos to look washed out but I think the paper I am using is too thick because even with the flash diffuser the sample shots I took of myself look a liiiiiittle dark.
Also what should I put the white balance at? currently I have it on Flash +3 to put a lot of light into the flash diffuser. Or should I just use flash -3 and no diffuser at all? HELP, I am getting paid for this and really want my photos to be stunning..

you will get a certain amount of noise in the photos… but sometimes that is a good thing to use…

diffusers can be made best out of shaped white plastic… usually handles from plastic bottles… cos they are preshaped and can hold onto the flashgun better…

alternatively, balloons… cut some off a balloon and put that around the flash and you can have different colours too…

the flash isn’t hot enough long enough to melt the rubber…
