A house in my neighborhood has recently put red ribbons all over their front yard, why?

It’s not Christmas time and I know there has to be a meaning for this, such as yellow ribbons have. What is the meaning of putting red ribbons on your trees, mailbox, lamp posts’ , bushes and etc. in Mid May?

If you’re in Canada, it could be the Red Ribbon campaign by MADD (mothers against drunk/impared driving) or it could be in support of the Red Ribbon campaign to support AIDS/HIV research. Either way, they might have lost someone important and did that to raise awareness. It made you ask about it, so it will make others ask about it too, which helps get their message out!

(OR they could just be very festive people and LOVE how it looks and want to impress all you neighbours or even be those type of people that shop and decorate for xmas a good 6 months ahead of time haha)
