How long do you have to hold an item sold on craigslist?

A lady bought a dresser from me off craigslist before Christmas 2009..she paid and ask me to hold it for a couple of months until her house was completed. I agreed and it has now been 7 months. I went a shop where she volunteers and they had her to call me..this was 3 weeks ago. She said that she would pick it up the next week, and I have not heard from her since. I have no room to keep storing this, how much longer do I have to wait before I can resell it..thanks for any info you can give.

Legally you would be required to notify the buyer of intent to sell or dispose property. A registered letter to the buyer (return receipt) and state they have 30 days (normal legal time allowed) to remove articles or risk having them removed. This should get them to pick it up quickly. Without a letter of intent that could pose legal issues, keep it simple, maybe tell them you’re moving.
