The Christmas season is filled with lots of extras activities. Getting today for work parties, family gatherings, buying presents, wrapping presents, decorating the tree. Well, you get the idea. Sometimes it does take an actually scheduled date to set aside time to relax yourself or with family or friends. It is one those scheduled dates that I like to sit back and enjoy a fun Christmas movie.

Best tips for baby’s first christmas and family gatherings! Need lots of opinions!?

This will be my baby girl’s (10 weeks today) very first christmas. I am a little anxious everybody will want to hold her and she’ll spend christmas eve and day in the arms of my family and my partner’s family. I’m afraid this will make her a little fussy, as she usually gets when she gets held by too many different persons. I need your best tips to avoid this. I know some will be very disappointed if I don’t let them hold the baby, even if I tell them what I just that…
Moms! What do you usually do around christmas time to make it all easy ???
Zoe is not crazy about the baby carrier, to say the least (she screams like as if was in pain when I put her in it!)
And no : my partner’s family are not afraid of holding babies and they will not hand her back to me is she gets fussy, they will insist on feeding her which is not an option.

This is something I don’t budge on. If I am going to puke my guts out and push out a watermelon, you are going to follow my rules when it comes to holding my baby.

I know you said your baby doesn’t like the carrier but you can pack her around in your arms anyways. You decide who holds her and if anyone has any issues, just let them know that she will get fussy and you DO want to sleep once the gathering is over. Overstimulated babies take forever to settle. You can also remind them that she is a baby not a doll and she has feelings and would be more comfortable with her mom and dad. Remind them that there are lots of people here and too many new faces. My favorite way to let them know I decide is to say, “when I know she is settled I will come and find you.” Slap a grin on your face when you tell them and they should get it.

I know I had it pretty easy because I breastfed and my son loved his wrap so I wore him the second we got in the door. But really, no one needs to get in between you and your baby, EVEN if you bottle feed!!! You had a baby for you and your man..not for the rest of the world!! They need to respect that. I wish people would see babies as people NOT a toy or a doll..jeez!

Just a tip for the carrier..try it when she is almost asleep and get moving RIGHT AWAY!..once she konks out then you can sit and relax.
