Visiting from England to America?
My daughter has a friend in England who is 15 years old. She would like to visit here over their Christmas break. (Nashville, Tennessee.)
What would she need to do health insurance wise?

The girl’s parents need to provide a temporary power of attorney to give you (an adult) the authority to get her (a minor) medical treatment in an emergency. They will need to do that in England and get it notarized. The girl should bring that with her. She will also need her health card. It would also help if they would provide a list of any medical conditions and medications.
If she should need medical treatment here, she may have to pay cash and seek reimbursement when she gets home. I’m not sure how the British health system works. I do know that when I visited a doctor in the UK, I paid for it and then submitted the bill to my insurance company when I got back to the US.
Hopefully, none of this will be needed.
