I’m trying out for “White Christmas”.What are some good songs from classic musicals (50′s&60′s) that’ll work?
They just released the rights to perform “White Christmas” in High schools and such…. and we are the first high school in the country (probably world, too) that will perform it! WHOOOHOOO!!!! okay. ya.
ANYWAY…… I am a powerful alto singer but I can sing high……. I usually try out and blow people away with “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Mis and other songs like that… but this musical is different. It’s just happy cutesy cheesy-ness. I’m not terribly familiar with classic musicals like that from the 50′s and 60′s. Any Ideas?
Can you help me? Any suggestions? I want to show off my voice and show that I can do well with this style of musicals. If you have any ideas please list them. Or….. if you want to get bonus points…… include links of lyrics and videos of these songs.

That’s awesome! I would recommend watching a few musicals from the 50′s and 60′s.
Guys and Dolls I would say is your best bet.

Yeah. Guys and Dolls is a great musical. I would recommend a song for there. Luck be a Lady is a great one. I especially recommend it because it’s the epitome of 50′s musicals. If you’re looking for good 60′s musicals, then look at Oliver! and Hello Dolly.
