Parents- If you had two hours to yourself what would you do?
My parents came by and wanted to spend some time with my daughter. They said they were going down to the beach to collect sea shells and feed the birds and they’d be back in 2 hours. So I packed her diaper bag and sent her off.
Looking back, I think I could have better spent my time… I cleaned and organized the entire time! Vacuumed and dusted every room, organized her closet, cleaned the bathroom, took down and put away the Christmas Decorations, moved the furniture around, changed both our sheets, started laundry, did the dishes, threw out the Christmas tree, etc.
Next-time I’m thinking movie, or a nap, a bubble bath and a novel perhaps, even a mani/pedi. What would you have done?
echu- I’m on breathing treatments for bronchitis. Albuterol, I was JITTERY. I did all that in 1 hour 40 min and took a shower and still had time before they came back.
I tell myself that I’d take two free hours to relax or pamper myself. Or meditate or do some yoga. Or catch up with an old friend. But I’d probably do what you did. Or try (you were very productive!)
Moms need to take it easy on themselves once in a while. Maybe if I keep saying it it’ll sink in for me too.
There is no trophy for “doing it all.” (Is there? Did I miss my trophy?)
