It doesn’t feel ANYTHING like Christmas and it’s depressing me HELP!?

What can I do to make it feel like Christmas? I’m 18 and a LOT of bad things just happened and not even Christmas is making it better My TV and internet aren’t working (using my phone) so that means no classic movie specials, one thing I live for at Christmas time lol. It’s my last Christmas living at my house that I’ve lived in all my life, my Mom decided not to do a tree at her house this year, and I’m broke so no presents for my Mom :’( I got one for my Dad but I’ve had it for a while..luckily they’re divorced so she won’t know but still All of my old decorations got thrown away by accident as well. I know this isn’t what Christmas is about but nothing seems to be going right this Christmas. How can I feel more Christmassy?! Tonight I’m going to my Aunts and the only time we see everyone is Christmas Eve but everyone’s so unfamiliar with one another it’s just horribly awkward lol..
Oh and it’s sunny and NO SNOW!

Yeah, I know how you feel. A few years ago something terrible happened to me and my family a few days leading up to Christmas, and yet I still had a decent Christmas day. This year, however, I feel nothing toward the season. It feels like just another day is coming and going. I’ve never been the type of person to go all out for the season, but I did enjoy it, but not this time around. It could be because I’m getting older, and that may be the case for you as well.

I can also relate to the family thing too. Our family used to hold a Christmas day gathering every year, and that was one of the only times I could see a lot of my extended family, and it was always extremely unpleasant and awkward for me. That was made worse by the fact that I didn’t have any cousins or relations around my age either (they were either a few years younger or a few years older than me). I used to always hang around my mother until it was time to go.

My advice is to just try to get through the holiday as best you can. Even if it doesn’t feel like Christmas and things are going wrong, try to think positive and bear through it. Maybe I’ll try and follow the same advice . If it helps, just know you’re not alone in trying to get through this monstrous holiday.
