Art is described as the process or product of arranging different symbolic elements in such a way that they can affect emotion, intellect and senses. There are many ways to express different aspects of art. This includes the basic of painting or drawing, but art can also be expressed in forms of sculpture, music, writing, film, architecture, dance and photography.

As society advances and changes, so does the concept of what art is and isn’t. Through the generations there have been many different era’s of art. Art Deco became popular starting in the 1920′s and continued through the 1930′s only to decline for several years and resurge in the 1960′s.

This type of art, originating in France and moving around the globe, moved away from the soft, portrait style of using pastels to the use of mathematical geometrical shapes and designs. It also brought in the use of other materials besides paint and canvas. Many of the materials used in the Art Deco age included aluminum, inlaid wood, lacquer, stainless steel, chrome, Bakelite and sharkskin.

Several examples of the Art Deco period would include such designs as the spire of the Spire of The Chrysler Building in New York and the Bullocks Wilshire in Los Angeles. There are many other smaller samples of this type of art located in parks and city squares all over the world.

Many people are born with a talent for art. Some are creative in drawing, sketching, painting and sculpting, while others are more creative in combining different elements in art forms. Art can be taught to just about anyone who wants to learn. While learning you will eventually be able to find where your true art talent lies.

Art is a daring career. You are unlimited in the way you learn to express your creativity. You are limited only by your personal passions of exploration. Art can be a very enjoyable and expanding way to express many emotions, not just yours, but of country, friends, family and world events.

If you could pick one person that deserves a special holiday, who and what would you do?

I have a friend with four little girls. The 13 year old gets very little attention from her mom. She is heavier than the others and has a hearing problem. She admires my artwork. I had her over once to teach her shadows in portraits and proportions of the face. I took her out to dinner, she had never eaten in a restaurant. McDonald’s and take-out were her only experiences. For Christmas I think I will buy her some pencils, charcoal, good art erasers and a tablet. I will throw in some drawing books and promise her a few private lessons. Then take her out to eat in another restaurant. It isn’t much, but I know it would make her very happy to be treated special this Christmas.

It;s so hard to pick one person ,but I am taking the little girl next door out to buy a special present and have a girl’s lunch. She’s 6 and mom is a raging alky and weed worshiper. GOD gave me a second chance at life with a new kidney and I’m sure I owe it to HIM to pay it forward..By the way, you might think what you’re doing isn’t much but that little girl will feel like royalty!
