In fact, the choir has appeared more than 109 times to bring festive cheer to the townsfolk and raise money for good causes. The group is formed every year by members of choirs across Cornwall who team up to sing on Christmas Eve, following a route throughout the town centre.
Once you’re settled in your Cornish holiday cottage, you might like to pick up some last-minute presents before taking in the performance, which usually begins in the late morning. Falmouth is full of shops, from big branded stores to smaller boutiques selling local crafts, so you’re sure to find some unique gifts.
When you’ve finished shopping, make your way over to the Watersports Centre, which is where the singers traditionally begin their route. Enjoy some well-known carols and sing along as you get into the festive spirit.
But don’t fret if your shopping spree runs over – the choir performs at several locations across the town into the afternoon so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to take in a recital. The last location in the tour is the Moor, which is where the town holds its market.
During performances, a few collectors will make their way round to raise money for charity. And during the season of giving, there’s no better time to part with a few pounds to help those less fortunate.
After enjoying the carols, you might want to make sure you’re fully prepared for the next day, especially if you’re cooking Christmas dinner, so ensure you’ve stocked up on everything you need back at your Cornish holiday cottage and enjoy the rest of your break.
